Senator James Sanders Jr. – Member of the New York State Senate
Beloved New York State Senator, James Sanders Jr., was born and raised in Queens, New York. He was a long-time public servant in the Queens community, before embarking on a political journey. In 2001, Sanders was elected to the New York City Council to represent the communities of Laurelton, Rosedale, Springfield Gardens, Edgemere, Bayswater, Arverne, and Far Rockaway. Following his time in the City Council, Sanders was elected to the New York State Senate. Serving since 2013, James Sanders Jr. represents the 10th Senatorial District, which includes Richmond Hill, South Ozone Park, Jamaica, Rochdale Village, Rosedale, and parts of Far Rockaway. Senator James Sanders Jr. is currently in his 4th term as New York State Senator. Sanders has been instrumental in getting legislation passed that provides further protection to victims of domestic violence, he is a staunch supporter of labor unions, promotes community development, advocacy for veterans, among other causes.
